STADA
STADA (German STADA Arzneimittel AG) is an international group of pharmaceutical companies. The headquarters is located in Bad Vilbel (Germany).
History
The company was founded in 1895 in Dresden as a pharmaceutical cooperative for the development and production of medicines. Initially, the name STADA was an abbreviation for Standardarzneimittel Deutscher Apotheker, which in Russian means "Standard for German Pharmacy Drugs".
In 1975, the company's management decided to work in the generics segment. This direction is still the main one for STADA.
In 1997, STADA entered the IPO of non-voting preferred shares; quotations appeared on the Frankfurt and Dusseldorf stock exchanges.
Since 2017, the American investment company Bain Capital has been the main shareholder.
