Product description

Orcerin tablets are indicated for the treatment of patients with symptoms of osteoarthritis of the hip or knee, with a delayed effect.

Composition

One capsule contains (active ingredient) diacerein 50 mg.

Excipients: cyclodextrins, sodium lauryl sulfate, lactose monohydrate, croscarmellose sodium, colloidal anhydrous silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate; capsule composition: brilliant blue (E 133), Ponso 4R (E 124), quinoline yellow (E 104), titanium dioxide (E 171), sodium lauryl sulfate, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 218), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 216), gelatin.

Contraindications

• a history of hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation or to anthraquinone derivatives;
• liver disease, present or in history;
• inflammatory bowel diseases (ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease);
• intestinal obstruction or pseudo-obstruction;
• abdominal pain of undetermined origin;
• During pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Mode of application

Treatment should only be initiated by physicians experienced in the treatment of osteoarthritis.

During the first 2-4 weeks of treatment, adults take one capsule (50 mg) with an evening meal with water. From 2-4 weeks of treatment, the dose of the preparation is increased to 100 mg per day in 2 divided doses (one capsule in the morning and in the evening with meals). Diacerein has a slow, delayed initial activity and a residual effect after stopping treatment, as a result of which Orcerin should be used for at least 2-4 weeks before the first positive effect appears. The positive symptomatic effect persists for 3 months after the period of use. Given the nature of the disease, a long course of treatment is recommended - at least 3 months, which can be repeated if symptoms appear. The duration of the course of treatment is determined by the doctor individually.

Diacerein treatment is not recommended in patients with rapidly progressive osteoarthritis of the hip, as they may have a poor response to diacerein.

Due to the lack of data, it is contraindicated to use Orcerin during pregnancy. Diacerein should not be taken by breastfeeding women, as a small amount of the preparation is found in breast milk.

Children

The safety and efficacy of the preparation in children under the age of 18 have not been established.

Drivers

There are no reports of the effect of diacerein on the ability to drive vehicles or work with other mechanisms.

Overdose

Diarrhea may occur if you accidentally or deliberately take large doses of diacerein. There is no specific antidote. Emergency treatment is to restore electrolyte balance.

Side effects

Usually the preparation is well tolerated, but sometimes dyspeptic disorders (frequent emptying, soft stools, flatulence), diarrhea, abdominal pain are possible, usually subside with continued treatment. In some cases, prolonged diarrhea can cause complications such as dehydration and imbalance in water and electrolyte balance. There was also a change in the color of urine, which has no clinical significance. Unlike non-steroidal anti-inflammatory preparations, diacerein does not have an ulcerogenic effect on the digestive tract.

With the use of diacerein, cases of acute liver damage have been reported, including an increase in the level of liver enzymes in the blood serum and hepatitis. Most of them were observed during the first months of treatment. Patients should be monitored for symptoms of liver damage.
