Product description

Polcrom 20 mg / ml is an antiallergic preparation in the form of eye drops.

Dosage

It should be instilled into the conjunctival sac 1 or 2 drops 4 times a day at equal intervals

time.

Composition

The active substance is sodium cromoglycate. 1 ml of the solution contains 20 mg of sodium cromoglycate.

The other ingredients are: sorbitol; disodium phosphate dodecahydrate; sodium dihydrogen phosphate

monohydrate; edetate disodium; sodium chloride; polysorbate 80; benzalkonium chloride solution; Purified Water.

Action

Polcrom is an antiallergy medicine that contains sodium cromoglycate. It inhibits the release of histamine and other substances involved in the course of allergic reactions (so-called cell mediators). Thanks to this, an allergic reaction does not occur. The preparation  is very well tolerated because the reaction of the drops (pH value) is the same as that of the tears.

Indications

Polcrom is used:

- in allergic conjunctivitis and keratitis (including spring and seasonal).

Contraindications

If you are allergic to sodium cromoglycate or any of the other ingredients of this preparation 

Side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Occasionally, temporary burning or stinging of the conjunctiva may occur. Other topical symptoms

irritation has been rarely reported.

Very rarely in patients with severely damaged clear layer of the eye (cornea)

cloudy spots on the cornea caused by calcium build-up during treatment have been observed.

Tell the doctor or pharmacist about all the preparations that the patient is taking now or recently, and about the preparations that the patient is going to take.

Polcrom preparation interactions with other preparations are not expected

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Pregnancy

The preparation can be used during pregnancy only if absolutely necessary.

Breast-feeding

It is unknown whether sodium cromoglycate is excreted in human milk. However, caution should be exercised as

although it is unlikely that the medicine will pass into breast milk and work

undesirable in a child who is breastfed.
