Product description

Septogard contains the active substance benzydamine hydrochloride, which belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory preparations (NSAIDs). Septogard works by reducing inflammation such as pain and swelling and is used to treat painful conditions in the mouth or throat, including:

• mouth ulcers
• sore throat
• pain in the inside of the mouth or gums
• toothache.

The preparations can be used in both adults and children.

Indications

Painful disorders of the mouth and / or throat, including inflammation manifested by pain and swelling.

Composition

1 ml of the preparation contains:

active substance: benzydamine hydrochloride 1.5 mg.Each spray dose contains 0.225 mg / spray dose),

excipients: glycerol, ethanol, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), sodium saccharin (E954), sodium bicarbonate, polysorbate 20, mint flavor SC-5230-AT (maltodextrin and menthol), purified water.

Action

Analgesic, anti-inflammatory.

Dosage

Use Septogard as instructed by your doctor, dentist or pharmacist. Check with your doctor, dentist or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Adults and children over 12 years of age: 4 to 8 doses of the spray, not more often than every 1.5-3 hours

Children 6-12 years: 4 sprays, not more often than every 1.5-3 hours,

Children under 6 years of age: 1 dose of the spray for each 4 kg of body weight, maximum 4 doses, not more frequently than every 1.5-3 hours.

The dose should be sprayed directly onto the affected area of ​​the mouth or throat. When using the spray, keep the bottle upright.

If you take more than the prescribed dose or accidentally swallow a large amount of the preparation, consult your doctor, dentist or pharmacist immediately. Do not use a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. If the symptoms worsen or the patient's condition does not improve after using the preparation, consult your doctor, dentist or pharmacist.

Contraindications

Septogard should not be used if you are allergic or hypersensitive to the active substance or any of the excipients.

Storage

Store the preparation in its original packaging, out of the sight and reach of children.

After first opening, do not use for more than 12 months.

Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste.

Side effects

Septogard, like any other medicine, can cause side effects, but not everybody gets them.

If you experience the following serious side effects, stop taking the medicine immediately and contact your doctor:

• severe allergic reactions, which may include difficulty breathing, chest pain or tightness in the chest, and / or dizziness / fainting, severe itching of the skin or raised lumps on the skin, swelling of the face, lips, tongue and / or throat which may potentially life-threatening.

Uncommon (1 in 1,000 people):

• numbness and / or burning sensation in the mouth and / or throat.

Very rare (less than 1 in 10,000 people):

• difficulty breathing and wheezing
• itch,
• skin rash
• hypersensitivity reactions, which may be associated with itching and a red, scaly rash, sometimes with blisters.

Not known (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data):

• redness or swelling of the skin
• allergic reaction (hypersensitivity).

Interactions

The patient should inform the doctor, dentist or pharmacist about all preparations  that he is taking, has recently taken or plans to take, including those obtained without a prescription.

Warnings and Precautions

Septogard should not be used in or around the eyes.

If a dose of the spray comes into contact with the eye, rinse immediately with cold water.

Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if you:

have or have ever had bronchial asthma or allergy (this may lead to an increased risk of bronchospasm or allergic reactions)

you are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory preparations (NSAIDs).

If you are not sure if any of the above applies to you, talk to your doctor, dentist or pharmacist before using Septogard.

If the patient is pregnant or breastfeeding, thinks that she may be pregnant or is planning to have a baby, consult a physician, dentist or pharmacist before using this medicine.

Septogard contains:

methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), which may cause delayed-type allergic reactions,

a small amount of alcohol (ethanol less than 100 mg per dose).
