Active substances

Artichoke leaf extract (Cynara scolymus L.) exhibits choleretic and diuretic properties. The increased secretion of bile relieves symptoms of indigestion, aids in the digestion of fats and has a protective effect on the acid-sensitive intestinal mucosa. Bile acids, which enter the duodenum, stimulate intestinal motility, improving digestion. It is believed that flavonoids, cynarin, chlorogenic acid, caffeine quinic acids, which stimulate the excretory function of the liver, as well as bitterness and sesquiterpene lactones, are responsible for this action. Taking artichoke extract leads to a decrease in the level of TG and cholesterol in the blood plasma, and the decrease in the level of the LDL fraction occurs faster. The components of the artichoke extract can enhance the elimination of cholesterol, on the one hand, by stimulating the secretion of bile, and on the other hand, suppressing the synthesis of cholesterol. Macro- and microelements (calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron), vitamins (ascorbic acid, carotene, vitamins B1 and B2), inulin, which are part of the artichoke leaf extract, contribute to the normalization of metabolic processes.

Biologically active substances contained in the fruits of milk thistle (Silybum marianum) - flavonoid, silymarin and its main isomer silibinin - cause hepatoprotective, choleretic, choleretic and membrane-stabilizing properties, namely: normalizes metabolic processes in the liver, increases the resistance of hepatic environment, contribute to the rapid restoration of the liver parenchyma and its physiological functions, and also enhance the formation and secretion of bile, secretory and motor functions of the gastrointestinal tract.

The extract of the rhizome of turmeric longa (Curcuma longa L.), containing curcumin, which exhibits choleretic (both choleretic and cholekinetic) and anti-inflammatory properties, reduces the saturation of cholesterol in bile.

"Engilen" is recommended as a dietary supplement to the diet as an additional source of silymarin, curcumin, cynarin, flavonoids, chlorogenic and caffeine quinic acids in order to normalize the functional state of the digestive system when:

Mode of application
