Viraxa tablets are indicated for:

Active ingredient: famciclovir;

1 tablet contains 125 mg or 250 mg or 500 mg of famciclovir;

Excipients: corn starch, sodium lauryl sulfate, microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, colloidal silicon dioxide, stearic acid, Opadrai white OY-S-28924 (hypromellose (5 cP), titanium dioxide (E171), hypromellose (15 HC) , macrogol 6000).

Hypersensitivity to famciclovir or other components of the preparation, as well as sensitivity to penciclovir.

Since the systemic bioavailability of penciclovir did not change when famciclovir was taken with food, famciclovir can be used with or without food.

For the treatment of shingles - 500 mg 3 times a day for 7 days. For the treatment of herpes zoster with ocular complications - 500 mg 3 times a day for 7 days. Treatment is best when started immediately after the appearance of the rash.

Data on overdose with famciclovir are limited. Accidental acute overdoses (10.5 g) have been reported limited. Long-term use (10 g daily for 2 years) of famciclovir did not cause complications. In case of overdose, supportive therapy should be used. Described are isolated cases of acute renal failure in patients with a history of kidney disease, for whom the dose of Virax was not reduced accordingly. The concentration of the preparation is reduced by about 75% during 4-hour hemodialysis.

In general, adverse reactions reported during clinical trials in immunocompromised patients were similar to those reported in patients with an intact immune system. More often, phenomena such as nausea, vomiting and changes in liver function indicators were reported, especially when taking higher doses.

There was no clinically significant effect on the pharmacokinetics of zidovudine, its metabolites - zidovudinglucuronide or emtricitabine - after a single dose of 500 mg famciclovir while used with zidovudine or emtricitabine.
