Pharmacological properties

Metronidazole is a derivative of nitroimidazole. acts on many anaerobic bacteria and protozoa, destroying and inhibiting the synthesis of their nucleic acids.

Indications

Topical treatment of inflammatory papules, pustules, rosacea and acne.

Application

The cream is applied in a thin layer on the skin of the face and lightly rubbed 1-2 times a day after washing with warm water or chamomile decoction. the preparation is used for 1-2 months. clinical improvement is usually observed within the first 3 weeks of therapy.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to metronidazole.

Side effects

Metronidazole, when applied topically, has little toxicity and is well tolerated. transient hyperemia, slight dryness, burning sensation and a feeling of tightness of the skin are possible. systemic side effects with topical application of metronidazole were not noted.

special instructions

When applying the cream, do not allow it to get into the eyes. After applying the cream to the skin, direct sunlight should be avoided.

Interactions

When applied topically - unlikely. there is a theoretical possibility of enhancing the effect of oral anticoagulants, so patients taking these preparations, the preparation is prescribed with caution.
