What Is Detralex?

Detralex is a medication used for the symptomatic treatment of venous and lymphatic circulation disorders, such as chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) and hemorrhoidal disease. It improves venous tone, reduces venous stasis, and strengthens capillaries, helping alleviate symptoms like heaviness, pain, and swelling in the legs. Manufactured in France, Detralex contains a micronized purified flavonoid fraction (MPFF), including the active ingredient diosmin.

How Does Detralex Work?

Venotonic and Angioprotective Effects

Detralex works by toning the veins and protecting blood vessels. It reduces venous distensibility (stretching of veins) and venous stasis (slowed blood flow), enhancing microcirculation and reducing capillary permeability. The result is improved blood flow, reduced swelling, and increased lymphatic drainage.

Flavonoids and Enhanced Microcirculation

Detralex contains a micronized purified flavonoid fraction (MPFF) that includes hesperidin, diosmethin, linarin, and isoroifolin. These components help reduce vascular permeability and improve the integrity of blood vessels. Clinical studies show that MPFF is more effective in reducing blood vessel permeability than diosmin alone.

What Conditions Can Detralex Treat?

Indications

Detralex is prescribed for:

• Chronic venous insufficiency (CVI): Symptoms like leg heaviness, pain, cramps, edema (swelling), and trophic disorders (including varicose ulcers).

• Hemorrhoids: Both acute and chronic hemorrhoidal disease.

Dosage and How to Use Detralex

Venolymphatic Insufficiency

• Adults: The recommended dose is 2 tablets per day—1 tablet during the day and 1 in the evening with meals. After one week, you can take 2 tablets once daily with meals.

Hemorrhoids

• Acute hemorrhoidal episodes: Take 6 tablets per day for the first 4 days, then 4 tablets per day for the next 3 days, divided into 2-3 doses with meals. For maintenance therapy, continue with 2 tablets per day.

Duration of Treatment

The length of treatment depends on the condition and should be determined by a healthcare provider.

Special Populations

• Children: There is no data on the use of Detralex in children, so it is not recommended for pediatric patients.

• Pregnancy: Detralex should be used with caution during pregnancy. Studies show no teratogenic effects, but pregnant women should consult a physician before use.
